Menstruation is a natural part of life, yet many young girls and women still struggle with limited knowledge, poor access to hygiene products, and fear rooted in misinformation. At Kiitan Foundation, we believe that education and support can transform this experience from one of confusion into one of confidence.
Our recent menstrual hygiene outreach was created with three key goals in mind:
Our Goals
• To educate young girls and women about menstruation and proper menstrual hygiene practices.
• To distribute sanitary pads to girls and young women who need them.
• To create an open space where participants could ask questions about menstruation and receive accurate guidance and counseling.
How the Day Unfolded
Our volunteers and team members gathered at the outreach venue by 12:00pm to begin setting up for the day. In just a few minutes, by 12:15pm, everything was ready—and young girls were already arriving. Soon after, mothers and women in their middle ages joined as well, showing just how needed this conversation is across all age groups.
The program started with an introduction to Kiitan Foundation’s mission, causes, and objectives, delivered by our State Public Relations Officer. This helped the community understand why menstrual hygiene matters and how our foundation hopes to support them.
A volunteer medical professional was available throughout the program to answer questions about menstrual health. Many girls and women opened up about issues they had previously been too shy to talk about. Their concerns were addressed with clarity, compassion, and professional advice.
One of the most impactful activities was the practical demonstration on how to properly use and dispose of sanitary pads. Younger girls who had recently begun menstruating were especially eager to learn. A few participants confidently demonstrated what they had learned, and some received small gifts as encouragement for listening and learning correctly.
After hours of engagement, conversations, demonstrations, and support, the program wrapped up at 3:00pm, leaving the girls and women better informed, more confident, and equipped with sanitary pads to help them manage their menstrual cycle safely.
Moving Forward
This outreach reminded us of the power of education and the importance of creating safe spaces where girls and women can talk freely about their bodies. Kiitan Foundation remains committed to championing menstrual hygiene and empowering communities—one outreach at a time. Check out photos below:
