Every Child Deserves the Opportunity to Read
“Education is the best legacy” is a phrase we often hear, but quality education begins with access to knowledge. For many children, that access starts with something as simple – and as powerful – as a book.
Unfortunately, many families cannot afford storybooks and educational materials that nurture curiosity, creativity, and learning. At Kiitan Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to read, learn, and dream, regardless of their circumstances.
Driven by this belief, we organized a Summer Book Drive from Monday, 27th July to Friday, 31st July 2026, providing free storybooks and educational resources to children and young learners in Ede, Osun State.
Reaching the Community
We embarked on a door-to-door awareness match across the Agbeni area of Ede. Speaking directly with families and community members proved highly effective. Shortly afterwards, groups of excited children – often between 10 and 14 at a time – began arriving at our office to choose books. We were also delighted to welcome several parents and guardians who collected books on behalf of their children.
The joy, excitement, and gratitude on the faces of the beneficiaries reminded us why initiatives like these matter.
Impact at a Glance
The Summer Book Drive achieved meaningful results:
- 40 participants attended the programme.
- 72 books were distributed.
- Dozens of children gained access to educational materials that will support their learning journey beyond the summer holidays.
Looking Ahead
The success of this initiative reinforces Kiitan Foundation’s commitment to promoting literacy, educational inclusion, and equal access to learning opportunities.
Every book placed in the hands of a child has the potential to spark imagination, inspire ambition, and shape a brighter future. We remain committed to expanding initiatives like this and reaching even more children in the years ahead.
Together, we can build a community where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed – one book at a time. Don’t forget to check out the images gallery below;
