In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, Kiitan Foundation proudly celebrated the female students of CAC Grammar School, Gbodofon on October 9, 2025.

The event was inspired by our deep concern for the misconceptions surrounding menstruation and the stigma that often prevents young girls from understanding and embracing their natural development. Our primary goal was to educate and sensitize female students about menstruation, the menstrual cycle, and proper body hygiene — empowering them with knowledge, confidence, and dignity.

Program Objectives

• To educate girls on the physical changes and developmental stages of their bodies.

• To promote healthy menstrual hygiene practices and body care.

• To support the girls through the distribution of sanitary pads.

Program Activities

The program commenced at 10:05 a.m. with the enthusiastic participation of the students, who gathered for the sensitization session.

A student nurse volunteer led the discussion, providing comprehensive education on female body genetics, the menstrual cycle, and the importance of proper menstrual materials.

Key topics covered included:

• Understanding menstrual blood, the menstrual cycle, ovulation, and common menstrual symptoms.

• Practicing good hygiene and effective management during menstruation.

• Choosing the right menstrual materials and ensuring proper sanitary disposal.

The session was highly interactive, as the girls were given the opportunity to ask questions and clear their doubts about body changes, menstrual symptoms, and hygiene practices.

The program was facilitated by a team of volunteers, all dedicated to ensuring a smooth and impactful session. The event concluded at 11:05 a.m., with group photographs and the distribution of sanitary pads to all participants. See photos from the event below.

Our Success Story

A total of 90 female students benefited from this important intervention. Each participant received a pair of sanitary pads, along with valuable knowledge that will help them maintain better hygiene, confidence, and comfort during their menstrual periods.

Through this initiative, Kiitan Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting menstrual health education, empowering girls, and supporting their right to knowledge and dignity.

Together, We Empower the Girl ChildBy addressing menstrual misconceptions and providing practical support, we are not only educating girls — we are nurturing a generation of informed, confident, and empowered young women.
