At Kiitan Foundation, we believe that dignity starts with education and access. On April 25th, 2025, we took this message to the heart of Ibadan North, Oyo State. Our “Girl and the Pad/Community Clothing & Shoes Distribution Outreach” was more than just an event, it was a heartwarming experience of learning, sharing, and giving.
From noon, our team of dedicated volunteers assembled to set up the outreach venue. By 12:30 PM, the grounds were ready and already buzzing with activity. Young girls, their mothers, and even older women from the community gathered some curious, some hopeful, all welcomed with open arms.
The event kicked off with an introduction to Kiitan Foundation’s mission by our passionate State PR representative. This set the tone for a deeply impactful session centered on menstrual hygiene awareness and empowerment.
One of the highlights was the presence of a volunteer medical professional who answered questions ranging from basic period care to more complex health concerns. For many young girls, this was their first opportunity to have an open and shame-free conversation about menstruation. Those who had just begun their menstrual journey were given hands-on demonstrations on how to use and dispose of sanitary pads correctly. To reinforce learning, a few brave girls demonstrated what they had just learned and were rewarded with thoughtful gifts.
But the outreach didn’t end there. In the spirit of community and generosity, we also hosted a clothing and shoe giveaway. Participants were invited to select items they needed from our display at no cost, no judgment, just love.
As the program wrapped up by 4:00 PM, smiles and laughter lingered in the air. What began as a few hours of outreach turned into a meaningful exchange of support, knowledge, and care.
We are grateful to every volunteer and community member who made this outreach a success. At Kiitan Foundation, we remain committed to creating safe spaces where girls and women can thrive with dignity, confidence, and joy.
Together, we’re making menstruation a conversation, not a stigma and that’s powerful. Check out photos from the events below.
